As a Mom, I am thrilled to share some exciting news with you all. The Center for Motivation and Change (CMC) has recently received a 12-month grant from the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation. This generous funding will enable CMC to expand some of their Invitation to Change (ITC) Group offerings across New York State for free. As someone who is seriously excited about this and the reasoning for this initiative. I am proud to announce that I will be one of the facilitators for one of the first New York State meetings!!! I am quite excited about this.
New Locations, New Opportunities!
Thanks to this grant, The Center for Motivation and Change has established three new locations so far in New York State only. With the possibility of 2 more soon. Where they will be offering the “Invitation to Change: A Short Guide” group curriculum throughout 2024. They will serve as hubs of support, education, and community for families impacted by substance use disorder.
Building Local Partnerships and Community Outreach…
For example let’s take the Westchester County area where one of the ITC meetings will be kicking off and held for 15 weeks. The Center of Motivation and Change will be building local partnerships, and working with Stephine Marquesano, Founder & President of The Harris Project, and providing free peer support to some New York State communities impacted by substance use disorder this year. I believe in the ITC curriculum, the Center for Motivation and Change, and the power of community and collaboration. From what I see CMC really wants to maximize the impact of their ITC Group offerings.
My Role as a Facilitator, that I honor greatly…
As one of the facilitators for the New York State meetings, I am looking forward to bringing the ITC Group curriculum to the local community. I am passionate about presenting the ITC Approach, providing support, and resources to those who need it and or want it. I am excited to be part of this important initiative. Thank you to the Center for Motivation and Change for inviting me to be a part of this journey.
To summarize, this expansion represents a significant step forward in my mission as a Mom to spread the word that there is hope, and a different way of doing things, when dealing with someone you love who is misusing substances. I whole heartily believe in the mission of CMC to provide support, education, and resources to communities impacted by substance use. I am deeply grateful to the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation for their generous grant to CMC, which has made this expansion possible. I am looking forward to the year ahead, to the opportunity to serve more individuals and families across New York State, working with new people, as well as, working with fellow Colleagues such as Alicia Sisk PhD, Stephine Marquesano, and the Center of Motivation and Change. Alicia Sisk Phd and I together will be co-facilitating the Westchester ITC Peer Support Group. Stay tuned for more updates from CMC as we embark on this thrilling new adventure. Together, I really believe we can make a difference!!! The power of unity in numbers is really a beautiful thing (:
